Lent Season Event Schedule 2025

Ash Wednesday, March 5

Morning “ashes to go”, 7:30-9:30am

Come anytime between 7:30am and 9:30am on Ash Wednesday for individual ashes and prayer.  Pastor Debbie will be available.  Simply ring the bell or come inside.  There will be a simple prayer of confession, words of absolution, a blessing and imposition of ashes.  It will only take a few minutes so stop by on your way to work!

7pm Worship.

We’ll gather for Ash Wednesday worship to confess our sin, to pray for a clean heart and a renewed spirit, and to hear words of absolution.  The smearing of ashes into a cross on our foreheads will remind us of our mortality and God’s power for life.  We will depart to witness to the joy of God’s salvation given because of God’s relentless love for humanity.

Midweek Lenten Soup Suppers and Evening Prayer, March 12, 19, 26, April 2 and 9 | 6-7pm

For five Wednesdays during Lent we’ll gather for soup supper from 6-6:40pm, followed by Evening Prayer from 6:40-7pm.

This year for Evening Prayer we will be using resources from ELCA World Hunger.  Each week brings us a passage from Luke’s gospel and a story of the work from a social ministry organization embodying the gospel through their efforts to end hunger at its roots.  All the organizations are members of Lutheran Services in America, which means we will also be learning more about the broader work of our church in the world.

A free-will offering bowl will be available at each Soup Supper.  All monetary gifts received will go to ELCA World Hunger.  Thank you in advance for your generous support in this effort.

Maundy Thursday Worship, April 17 | 7pm

During our Maundy Thursday worship we will share Holy Communion, pray, and reflect on Jesus’ actions just before he was arrested.  Our service will end with the altar being stripped—a symbolic way to represent Jesus begin stripped of power.

Good Friday Worship, April 18

Noon – Stations of the Cross.  This will be an indoor service, located at Faith in the sanctuary.

7pm – During this Tenebrae service, the entire Passion from Luke’s gospel will be read. Throughout the reading there will be pauses to extinguish candles, hear music, and reflect.  This service ends with an Acclamation of Triumph recognizing that the cross that was meant for death has actually brought life.
